Andrew Legrand

Andrew knows that it’s a lot easier to adjust the fan than it is to clean up the sh*t.

When clients are facing changes to their business or disputes within the office or with an external party, Andrew doesn’t just provide them with a textbook response that temporarily fixes their problem.

Instead, he works with clients to create real-world solutions that leave no room for error and help get their businesses where they want them to be.

Outside of his 10+ years helping clients grow THEIR businesses, Andrew is also an entrepreneur himself: skipping the traditional post-law school step of working at a large firm and instead hanging his own shingle immediately after passing the bar exam.

When Andrew returned to his home in New Orleans after college, the community was recovering from Hurricane Katrina.

The whole city was banning together to find ways to physically rebuild, and what interested Andrew the most was the rebuilding of the economy through the growth of local businesses.

After his first year of law school in New Orleans in 2009, during the nation-wide economic crash, the fear of not finding work, combined with his love of local businesses, sparked a deep-seeded entrepreneurial spirit within him. This spirit is what fueled his idea to create a different kind of law firm: one that elevated small businesses by helping them grow, expand, and avoid legal issues by implementing practical, systematic solutions, all with simple, straight-forward pricing.

He opened Spera Law Firm — a remote, paperless law firm — in 2011 and focused his sights on helping rebuild the New Orleans economy by providing local business owners the legal advice they needed to be successful.

Andrew knows what it feels like to have the dream of opening a business and the risks involved in going for that dream. But he also knows that these dreams, the ideas and the people behind them, are what make New Orleans unique.

That’s why Spera Law works with small businesses of all types — start-ups, hair salons, consulting firms, charter schools — to help them grow, expand, and enrich the New Orleans economy.

An important part of setting up these businesses for success is anticipating risks before they happen. Bad contracts, brand theft, and other issues often can be avoided with a few mere hours of set-up, which is why Andrew and his team work with clients to build systemized business models for prevention on the front-end.

Outside of the office, Andrew intentionally tries to avoid technology. He spends as much time as he can outside, camping, biking, and playing ultimate frisbee. He loves the New Orleans community and all it has to offer: eating and dancing at spring music festivals, strapping his canoe to his Wrangler and finding a river adventure every summer, and staying inside and brewing gumbo during the winter months.

But when it’s time to get back to work, Andrew is all-in.

Helping his community build the businesses they care about is his passion, and he loves nothing more than helping others keep the sh*t from hitting the fan.
